Bishop Elementary School (BES) serves approximately 870 students in kindergarten through fifth grade.  We are nestled at the base of the Eastern Sierra in a spectacular setting. Our school includes a dual language immersion strand (Spanish) K-5.  Art, music, and physical education are respected and considered imperative to creating a well-educated society. In addition, technology is a major focus at BES. Students in grades K-2 are loaned a IPOD loaded with educational apps to use throughout the year. Each student in grades 3-5 are loaned an ACER laptop to use throughout the year courtesy of the Inyo County Office of Education.

Fifth grade students may choose to begin instrumental band instruction at Home Street School. Some enrichment activities offered to students include participating in Student Council, History Day, Science Fair, the Battle of the Books competition, as well as a myriad of other educational and cultural activities. Many of our staff and students participate in Playhouse 395, a community theater project.

BES's teachers and staff are devoted to meeting the instructional needs of every student in the 21st century by engaging in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and Response to Intervention (RTI), which involves gearing lessons toward the new Common Core Standards.

We celebrate our environment by recycling and harnessing the power of the sun to provide electricity for our school. We believe talents and character should be celebrated on a daily occurrence, and we work diligently to make BES a creative, wholesome, wonderful place to be.
